Pasadena, CA – October 2008
The Castle Press is proud to announce their latest accomplishment at the Environmental Excellence Awards in Chicago. This first year event is hosted by American Printer magazine and recognizes the most environmentally conscious printers in North America.
Castle Press received the Silver Award in the 26 to 99 employee category. “It is an honor to be recognized and it reinforces our belief that a commitment to the environment is good for business.” said Susan Kinney.
With thousands of entries in this category, an independent panel of judges looked at participants’ production composition, personnel involvement and manufacturing process.

George Kinney points out that the use of vegetable based inks and FSC (Forest Stewardship Counsil) certification have played a large part. “We have doubled our efforts to recycle paper, plates and cardboard waste." said George.
Castle Press team members have also contributed. Recent suggestions have reduced rag usage, saved 5,000 lbs in ink waste and minimized trash pickup to one day a week.
